Head into Hollywood and see Mann’s Chinese Theatre–famous for its permanent collection of handprints, footprints, and signatures from a multitude of movie stars, including Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe–as well as the Academy Awards’ home, the Kodak Theatre, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Then, head into Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive to see where the stars shop and dine before traveling to neighboring Century City, the business mecca of the entertainment industry and home of 20th Century Fox studios. In the evening, you will have a unique, one of a kind glimpse into the world of float building at an exclusive float viewing at the Pasadena Pavillion. The evening starts in YMT’s own VIP tent with a presentation of the history of the Rose Parade, given by a knowledgeable Tournament of Roses staff member. After the presentation is completed, you’ll get a private and exclusive chance to see the floats up close and enjoy all the details that went into making these magnificent pieces of art–an opportunity almost as exciting as the Tournament of Roses Parade, itself! |

Day 3 – Leisure Day or Optional Tour to J. Paul Getty Museum and Reagan Library:
Today is yours to enjoy as you wish, and Los Angeles offers you no shortage of sights and activities from which to choose! If you wish, you may decide to join an optional tour to the Getty Museum and Reagan Library. In the morning, you’ll witness the amazing architectural delights and fine artistry of The Getty Center with a self-guided audio tour. Created by architect Richard Meier, the modernist Getty was designed as a way to highlight both the culture within the buildings as well as the natural beauty surrounding it. Whether it’s the 16,000 tons of travertine stone used in the architectural design, the beautiful Central Garden filled with over 500 different plants, or the spectacular view from the hillside, you’re sure to remember the extraordinary Getty! After, you’ll head to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, home to over 50 million pages of presidential papers. After opening its doors in 1991, over one million visitors have traveled to the Reagan Library for an interesting glimpse into the 40th President’s life through documents, photographs, videos, and artifacts from his years spent in the White House. |

Day 8 – Mazatlan, Mexico (8:00 AM-5:00 PM):
“Mazatlan” is the Aztec word for “place of the deer,” describing the days long ago when it sheltered more deer than humans. Initially, hunting and fishing were the original draw for visitors. In modern day, Mazatlan is the home of Mexico’s largest sport fishing and shrimp fleets. People come here to enjoy the sun, surfing, sailing and golf courses. If you enjoy shopping, this “Pearl of the Pacific” offers bargains at the massive city market, where the price of the day depends on your powers of persuasion. You can soak in the ten miles of breathtaking beaches, make a visit to the aquarium, or partake in an optional shore excursion provided by Holland America. |
Day 9 – Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (8:00 AM-5:00 PM):
When Puerto Vallarta first entered the public’s consciousness, John Huston’s 1964 movie, The Night of the Iguana, depicted it to be an almost mythical, tropical paradise. Today, it is the quintessential Mexican resort overflowing with the charm of Old Mexico. Narrow cobblestone streets, lined with shops and galleries, provide perfectly shaded patios where you may sample Carne Asada as a mariachi band plays. Then, step into the solitude of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe or stroll across the beautiful sands of Playa del Sol–both are crowd pleasures. You can bargain with local merchants for great souvenirs, or find an activity available along the over 25 miles of golden, sandy beaches. |
Day 10 – Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (9:00 AM-5:00 PM):
This region has become one of Mexico’s most popular coastal getaways, with deluxe hotels, championship golf courses, and some of the finest sportfishing in the world. According to legend, pirates found the tip of Baja an ideal lookout for spotting Spanish galleons traveling from the Philippines to Spain’s empire in central Mexico. Search as you may for plundered gold, today’s treasures are found in the record-breaking gamefish of “Marlin Alley” and in the black coral jewelry fashioned by local artisans. Explore Cabo San Lucas on your own, or opt to enjoy an optional shore excursion available through Holland America. |
